Writing & Creativity Tools

While there are many platforms and tools for writers available, it be overwhelming to determine the exact right one for you. I'm not here to say there's a right one, but I do want to highlight a few that could be useful.

For writing and organizing your manuscript, we have

  • Reedsy — Curated marketplace for vetted publishing pros + free book editor.

  • Dabble — Distraction-free novel writing with Plot Grid and goal tracking.

  • Novlr — Minimalist online novel editor with goals, analytics, and versioning.

  • Living Writer — Template-driven story organization with drag-and-drop outlines and character tools.

For creative tools that help you record your thoughts, follow a creative path, or simply have a place to park your ideas until you're ready to explore them, we have:

  • Milanote — Visual boards for creative planning, moodboards, and story mapping.

  • Obsidian — Lets you build a living story bible—linking scenes, characters, timelines, and research into a navigable web.

I'll give Atticus honorable mention because of the custom layouts and growing features they continually add over time.

As you've been writing so far, which tools are you using and which tool would you like to have but you're unsure if it exists?
